Information

Sydenham Teast Edwards was the son of a Welsh schoolmaster and the inseparable companion of William Curtis on his botanical expeditions. He was a superb, conscientious botanical artist and worked for many years with Curtis on the Botanical Magazine. As a result of a disagreement with Curtis in 1815, Edwards started a rival publication, The Botanical Register, from which this print is from.
The prints from the Botanical Register are wonderfully detailed, look marvelous when framed and are favorites of many of our regular customers.

Print method

Copper plate engraving with superb original hand color and nice clear plate marks
Plate printed on one side, blank on reverse.

Condition

Very good condition. There is faint off setting of type on a few prints from this volume, if present this is evident in the scan.
