Contents of the CD
The CD contains:
1. Incredibly detailed scans of 20 antique prints of parrots and parakeets in natural settings including all the ones on this linked page . The scans are much more detailed and higher quality than those on this web site. When printed on a typical ink jet printer they are a very close match to the original antique prints.
2. A full contents list giving the common and latin names and country of origin:
3. An enjoyable screen saver featuring all the prints
4. A scan of of the frontispiece showing the date the prints were made.

| Information |
This CD contains very detailed scans of original antique prints from the first and only edition of a work on parakeets (small parrots) by David Seth Smith. David Seth Smith's work on parakeets was one of the last fine bird books illustrated with hand-coloring, and was published in 1903. The artists who drew the illustrations included some of the best bird artists, such as F.W. Frohawk, H. Goodchild, Henrik Grönvold, and W.E. Renaut. The lithographs were printed lithographically (i.e. with printing stones, a process which is too expensive these days) by Mintern Brothers (famous for printing many of John Gould's bird prints) and Bale & Danielsson, and then colored by hand. |
