These scans are of antique prints of prize poultry from W.B. Tegetmeier's "The Poultry Book", illustrated by Harrison Weir who "poured out a lifetime of devotion to English poultry" (Norris, Books on Poultry and Cock-Fighting). The color printing was done by the Leighton Brothers in London. Leighton Brothers are also known as the printers and publishers of the Illustrated London News between 1858 and 1885 Antique prints of poultry are popular to this day and look really great
in kitchens. |

The color prints are chromolithographs (i.e. different stone blocks were used to print each color). The uncolored prints are wood engravings. |

The prints the scans were made from were in very good condition. There
is speck or two of foxing on a few of the prints |
