| Information |
This is a beautiful antique chromolithograph from a work by Arthur G.Butler (1844-1925). Butler was an entomologist at the British Museum and worked on the taxonomy of birds, insects and spiders. He engaged two of the finest illustrators of birds of all time, H.Gronvold and F.Frohawk, to illustrate the birds in this set of prints. They were experts at showing the birds in a life like manner, with beautiful background scenery. |
Date |
Circa 1900 . This is a real antique, not a reproduction. |
| Print method |
Chromolithograph printed with vibrant colours on mid-weight paper,
print on one side, blank on the other side. Chromolithographs were made by printing from limestone blocks, with each color being printed from a different stone block. The Victorians were masters of this technique. |

Excellent condition. The colors are fresh and bright. |
| Size |
About 11½ by 8 ¾ inches (30 by 22cm) |
