16 x 10cm (6.5 x 4 inches).
This antique lithograph was made in London in the 1850s by the famous Sowerby family, well known for their high quality illustrations of the natural world. They were made to educate the general population in natural history. The Victorians were very interested in natural history and many pursued it as hobby, for example collecting and studying butterflies, beetles and wild flowers. This is an original antique, not a reproduction. It is in excellent condition. The paper is creamy white and the hand coloring is well done and uses a beautiful range of colors.
