The beautiful lithographs in this set were drawn by famous artists such as John and Elizabeth Gould, Joseph Wolf, H.C.Richter (Wolf and Richter drew many of the illustrations of birds in Gould's work), Edward Lear and G.B. Sowerby. Many of these lithographs were illustrating species which had just been discovered and formally recorded as a new species by The Zoological Society of London
