These finely detailed engraved prints were made in London in 1827 by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd.
During the 18th and 19th Century London became the richest and most magnificent city in the world. It's power and wealth were generated from Britain's vast empire and from the industrial revolution. Some of the finest city buildings were made in this period and are just as magnificent in this day and age. This fascinating set of original antique prints portrays some of the most famous buildings, views and landmarks. If you have lived in or visited London you'll find these especially interesting. They are beautifully executed engravings and careful examination reveals fascinating details.
This is a genuine antique engraving, not a reproduction. It is a steel plate engraving, on medium weight paper with the image on one side and it is blank on the reverse side. The paper is a creamy to tan tone. It is in good condition. There is a tiny amount of foxing and the paper is a little bit darkened right at the edge of the paper.
