Grass

Rare original, antique prints of wild grass. Wild grass symbolizes the cycle of life - from buds, to sun collectors and food to falling to the ground to fertilise new growth. Grasses have a myriad of shapes, colours and uses. People have used grasses for a long time. People eat parts of grasses such as wheat, barley, oats, rice and millet. Sugar comes from sugar cane, a plant in the grass family. People have grown grasses as food for farm animals for about 10,000 years. Grasses have also been used to make paper for more than 4000 years. Bamboo is used to build houses, fences, furniture and other things. Grass plants can be used as fuel, to cover roofs, and to weave baskets.
Scientists and artists have been intrigued by grasses for hundreds of years. Hence they were often studied and illustrated in the olden days. There is something very restful about antique prints of grass, perhaps they appeal to our ancient instincts which associate grass with food, home and the cycle of life.
