This large, vintage lithograph of fruit is by one of the finest botanical artists of the first half of the 1900s. Carlos von Riefel was born in Austria in 1903. In 1922 he enrolled at the Viennese Academy of Arts. Very soon, his work was being exhibited in Paris, Vienna and Berlin. He became interested in botanical art in the 1930s and specialised in fruit and flowers. This is an original vintage lithograph made in England in the 1950s by litho-offset on thick high quality paper.
