Discover genuine antique prints about birds.

Bird illustration has been an important art form for centuries. It is a beautiful blend of art and science.

Bird illustration reached a peak in about 1600 to 1900. This was an exciting era of exploration and discovery. Scientists and artists documented and illustrated familiar birds and newly discovered species.

At the same time, it was fashionable for wealthy people to have scientific hobbies. One of the most popular was studying nature. The wealthy employed some of the finest artists to illustrate birds. The illustrations were usually printed as engravings or lithographs.
