Carlos von Riefel was one of the finest botanical artists of the first half of the 1900s.
Riefel was born in Austria in 1903. In 1922 he enrolled at the Viennese Academy of Arts. Soon, his work was being exhibited in Paris, Vienna and Berlin.
He became interested in botanical art in the 1930s and specialised in fruit and flower painting. Von Reifel's art is well known in Germany and Austria.
