This hand colored antique lithograph was made in 1836. It is from Naturgeschichte und Abildungen der Filche by Karl Joseph Brodtmann and Heinrich Schinz. Schinz (1777-1861) was a Swiss physician and naturalist and curator of the natural history society of Zurich. Karl Joseph Brodtmann was a renowned Swiss lithographer. His lithographs are superbly detailed, accurately drawn and beautifully composed. He is considered one of the finest illustrators of animals.

This print is an authentic antique, not a reproduction. It is in excellent condition. The hand painted coloring is superb and uses a beautiful range of colors. The paper is thick and high quality.
