Edward Kennion (1744–1809) was a British landscape painter and drawing master whose posthumous treatise, An Essay on Trees in Landscape (1815), shaped 19th-century British naturalism. He settled in London after a career as a soldier and businessman and regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy.
The detailed etched and aquatint plates show the character of each tree species and directly influenced legendary Romantic painter John Constable.
