Entrance To The Caves Of Beni-Hassan.
28.5 x 20 cm (11.2 x 7.7 inches)
This is the facade of the Middle Kingdom rock-cut tomb of Amenemhat chief priest under the reign of the 12th dynasty pharaoh, Senusret I.
This antique lithograph was made in 1855 and is from "The Holy Land" by David Roberts. It was lithographed by Day & Son in England. The Holy Land is probably the greatest travel work ever produced. In 1838, Roberts traveled through the region, drawing over 200 views of scenery, people and buildings. These attractive lithographs are likely to become more valuable as the subject matter and artist have enduring popularity and sets of prints are scarce. It was made by lithography on paper which is light, creamy white and is in excellent condition.
