Galloway House: Earl of Galloway

27 x 20.5 cm (10.5 x 8 inches).

Built in 1740 the house is notable for a high wall around the garden which was constructed during the Napoleonic Wars by French prisoners of war.

This original antique lithograph of a British stately home was made in the 1880s by Alexander Francis Lydon. Lydon was a renowned perfectionist. He was expert at creating beautifully coloured prints. He worked for Benjamin Fawcett the printer. He collaborated on his prints of stately homes with Reverend Francis Orpen Morris

The paper is high quality, matt with a subtle creamy tone. The coloring is bright and uses a beautiful range of colors. It is in excellent condition.
