George Stubbs (1724-1806) was one of the first artists to paint animals very realistically. Previously, most artists had exaggerated muscles and and other physical attributes. His great work was "The Anatomy of The Horse". Stubbs did his own engravings for this work. Over subsequent years he published more than 40 prints after his paintings, with the help of his son.
