Grand Approach To The Temple of Philae, Nubia

28.5 x 20 cm (11.2 x 7.7 inches)
This temple was dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis

This antique lithograph was made in 1855 and is from "The Holy Land" by David Roberts. It was lithographed by Day & Son in England. The Holy Land is probably the greatest travel work ever produced. In 1838, Roberts traveled through the region, drawing over 200 views of scenery, people and buildings. These attractive lithographs are likely to become more valuable as the subject matter and artist have enduring popularity and sets of prints are scarce. It was made by lithography on paper which is light, creamy white and is in excellent condition.
