Henry Nehrling (1853 - 1929) was the custodian of the Milwaukee museum of Milwaukee. He loved birds and was a member of the American Ornithologists Union.
He is best remembered for his work illustrating American birds. He focused on song birds and beautiful birds. Nehrling employed Professor Robert Ridgway of the Smithsonian Institution, Professor A.Goering aand George Muetzel to help illustrate the birds. The birds are shown in attractive scenery.
