John Scott (1774–1827) was an English engraver who specialized in animals. He made portraits of horses for The Sporting Magazine, the first British sports periodical.
Scott also engraved plates for his own works such as "The Sportsman's Album". This was a set of engravings of dogs and horses and is quite rare.
He based them on original paintings by famous artists such as Stubbs and Gilpin. His engravings include some of the earliest illustrations of some dog breeds.
