John Wright was a horticulturist in the late 1800s. He was editor of the London Journal of Horticulture and created high quality guides to fruit, vegetables and flowers.
Wright employed excellent, botanical artists. The resulting lithographs are vivid and life like. Often the artists were female, unusual for the time. For example, Gertrude Hamilton and Marie Low illustrated the flowers.
