Map Of The Arctic Regions Showing The North West Passage
47 x 32 cm (18.5 x 12.5 inches).
Inset of Wellington Channel
Repair on left margin
This beautiful, large map is from the last decorative hand colored atlas from England, The The Royal Illustrated Atlas Of Modern Geography, which was published in 27 parts from 1854-62 by A. Fullarton and Company of London and Edinburgh. It was printed via steel plate engraving and lithography and has a mixture of printed and hand painted coloring.
The map is good condition. It looks better in real life as our camera struggled to capture the detail. The paper is light creamy white, in the margins there is a bit of age toning and a few marks which could be covered by a matte when framing. This is a large and impressive antique map.
