Japan

This original antique engraving was made in 1778. It is from a "A New and Complete Collection of Voyages and Travels" by John Hamilton Moore, and was printed by Alexander Hogg in London. Moore described some of the most interesting discoveries and adventures such as voyages by James Cook, Furneaux, Magellan, Drake, Anson, Dampier, Wallis and other great explorers. It was made by copper plate engraving on medium weight, chain-linked cotton rich, paper. It is in very good condtion. There is a little foxing and age toning, as shown in the above image.
