This is a superb 85 year old photogravure from Karl Blossfeldt 's masterpiece Urformen Der Kunst (art forms in nature), 1929, first edition. Blossfeldt was a professor of design in Berlin and made the photogravures using a home made magnifying camera, revealing hidden elegance and beauty. In 2001 Urformen der Kunst was nominated as one of the top 100 photographic works of the Twentieth Century. This is an original photogravure from 1929, not a reproduction.
Blossfeldt had a unique insight into the botanical world. It is a vision that has remained contemporary and delights those who love plant forms.
