31 x 24 cm (12 x 9.5 inches).

Canadian Burnet, Swallow Wort

This is a superb 85 year old photogravure from Karl Blossfeldt 's rare and famous work, Urformen der Kunst, (Archetypes of Art). These rarely seen, subtly toned photogravures are now recognized as vital contributions to the history of photography - in 2001 Urformen der Kunst was nominated as one of the seminal photographic works of the Twentieth Century. This is an original photogravure from 1929, not a reproduction.

Blossfeldt had a unique insight into the botanical world. It is a vision that has remained contemporary and delights those who love plant forms.
