The Age of Sail was the period in which sailing ships dominated trade routes and warfare at sea.
It lasted from the 16th to the mid-19th century. During this time, sailing ships carried explorers and settlers to many parts of the world.
Sailing ships reached their peak by the second half of the 19th century. After that, steam-powered ships started to dominate the seas. However images of sailing ships still evoke the spirit of adventure, exploration and new horizons.
Here are some vintage lithographs of classic sailing ships for you to choose from. They are genuine vintage prints, made in the 1950s.
