Sir Edwin Henry Landseer RA (1802 - 1873) was an English painter and sculptor. He was a highly talented artist and tremendously popular in the 1800s. His reputation as an animal painter was unrivalled.
Landseer remains well known for his animals paintings and sculptures such as the lion statues in London's Trafalgar Square.
Many of his works are in world-renowned institutions. For example, you may see them in Tate Britain and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
