Sir Herbert Maxwell (1845 - 1937) was a country gentleman, politician, writer. He owned an estate in Scotland where he enjoyed country pursuits such as fishing. Sir Maxwell contributed to many journals, such as the Scottish Naturalist, the Scottish Forestry Journal, Gardeners' Chronicle and The New Flora and Silva. He published over 75 books and many papers. This success anabled him use talented printmakers to create illustrations for his work. Here are some of his lithographs for you to choose from. They are antique prints, made over 100 years ago.
