A tubular bridge is a bridge built as a rigid box girder section within which the traffic is carried. The Britannia Bridge was designed by the famous engineer Robert Stephenson. It eventually burnt down in 1970.

Tomlinson (1808 - 1897) was a British scientist and a member of the Royal Society.
