Thomas Cheeseman (1845 - 1923) was a famous New Zealand botanist. He was a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London.
He paved the way for the first comprehensive, illustrated flora for New Zealand.
Miss Matilda Smith, of the Royal Herbarium, Kew, was the main illustrator. Cheeseman sent specimens to Kew so her drawings could be accurate. They were published as lithographs in "Illustrations of the New Zealand Flora" in 1914.
Here are some of these antique lithographs for you to choose from. They have hand painted colouring.
