Traugott Bromme was a German traveler who led an exciting life.
He was born in Germany in 1802. He settled in the United States in 1820, and then traveled widely. He became surgeon on a Colombian war-schooner cruising in the West Indies, and was detained for a year as a prisoner in Haiti, during which time he explored that island.
After returning to Germany he became a publisher. He created and published books, prints and maps about natural history and his travels.
Here are some of his prints of animals for you to choose from. They are genuine antique prints, are hand coloured and were made in 1867.
