These are genuine antique prints by William Forsell Kirby (1844 – 1912), an English entomologist and folklorist.
His prints gave butterfly collectors and amateur naturalists a comprehensive guide to European butterflies and moths.
The prints are very attractive with brilliant colour and superb details for each insect. The intricacy of the markings on each creature is remarkable. The butterflies and moths are shown on the plants they typically inhabit.
