The society is devoted to study and conservation of animals worldwide From day one in 1826, powerful people supported it, e.g. Stamford Raffles, Humphry Davy and Joseph Banks.
Hence, the ZSL has always used top notch zoological artists. These lithographs include work by John and Elizabeth Gould, Joseph Wolf and Edward Lear.
