26.5 x 18 cm (10.3 x 7 inches).

This antique lithograph of butterflies was made in 1895 by The Reverend Francis Orpen Morris. He was well known for his passion for natural history and he devoted much of his leisure time to a series of works on the birds, butterflies and moths of Britain. Each of his prints from his work on butterflies features one species. This makes them quite different to many other antique prints of butterflies, which often have a mixture of species on them. These prints look great when framed in groups. The print was published by John Nimmo, King William Street, Strand, London. It is an original antique, not a reproduction. It was made by lithography on stiff paper which is blank on the reverse, then finished with hand painted coloring.
