Rewarewa

30.5 x 24.5cm (15 x 9.5 inches)
Knightia excelsa
Rewarewa flowers are a great source for honey production. It was also called the ‘Bucket of Water’ tree as it is useless for firewood.

This is an antique lithograph of New Zealand flora. It is from a work by Thomas Frederic Cheeseman and was published in 1914 in Wellington, New Zealand. At the time the botany of New Zealand was poorly known so Cheeseman made many collecting trips to gather specimens. It was made on smooth, fine quality paper and has beautiful hand painted colour. It is in excellent condition. The accompanying text is available on request.
